Mystique and scandal where the ways of Lon Megargee—a name he stole, to make a new life for himself out West, as we learned from the laudable Dr. Betsy Fahlman. Speaking to a sold-out crowd of A Taste for Art a summer supper club series created in a partnership with Western Spirit’s neighbors, Scottsdale Artists’ School—the collaborative idea created by Executive Directors James Burns and Trudy Hays.

“Tonight, was a wonderful experience…thank you!  Betsy was her amazing self
and everyone we ended up seated with were fun and interesting!” shared Western Spirit Trustee Jennifer E. Sands.

The evening at Lon’s came and went as whimsically as the man himself—in a parade of artifacts, artworks, and tales of yesteryear. Betsy had the crowd in laughter, learning of Lon’s talents, antics, and seven ex-wives—although there’s word that there may have been an eighth! Patrons of the event enjoyed a rare look at prized artworks by Lon Megargee, on loan from generous benefactors of both organizations. A surprise and crowd favorite, Lon’s Stetson hat with his name embossed on the inner ridge, and adorned with the most elegant hatband of hand worked silver and turquoise was also on view.
