The D’Autremont Train Robbery

On October 11, 1923, three young brothers attempt to rob a train carrying mail across the country. They botch the job entirely by using too much dynamite, blowing up everything of value and killing four people. The ensuing manhunt was one of the most elaborate investigations in American history. Their dangerous quest for gold helped to spawn modern criminal forensics.
