Also on this day, guests can enjoy a screening of the Smithsonian Channel film “Pocahontas: Behind the Myth” in the Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust Theater/Auditorium. This engaging and informative film is included with museum admission, and free to museum members and Museum Day participants:
“Pocahontas: Beyond the Myth” – Film Screenings at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
The story of Pocahontas has been passed down through the centuries. Her relationship with John Smith has been characterized as a romance that united two cultures and created lasting peace. However, the life of this American Indian princess was anything but a fairytale. Join us as we look beyond the fiction and reveal the real story of Pocahontas, a tale of kidnapping, conflict, starvation, ocean journeys, and the future of an entire civilization. This film is provided courtesy of Smithsonian Channel.
Free general museum admission will be provided to those with official Museum Day tickets. To reserve/print your tickets, visit Smithsonian.com/museumday.
