Become a Museum Docent Today!

Are you interested in sharing the fun and fascinating stories of the west with people who are eager to learn? Western Spirit: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West is recruiting volunteer docents who wish to help the museum by leading informative, engaging and entertaining tours. Those with previous museum volunteer experience, or a background in education or Western studies, are especially encouraged to apply.

The museum’s docents lead tours of the exhibitions and tell the stories of the American West, the bordering states of Mexico, and provinces of Canada. The fall docent training courses will be held from 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. on eight consecutive Wednesdays from September 5 – October 24. Attendance at all eight sessions is required of prospective docents.

A minimum of two, three-hour sessions per month are required of volunteers who complete the training. Individuals interested in becoming docents should respond no later than Friday, August 31 by submitting the online form HERE, or by contacting Education Manager Wade Weber at wweber@scottsdalemuseumwest.org or 480-686-9539, ext. 212.
