Director John Ford

John Ford (1894-1973) has been ranked among the greatest American directors, making more than 140 films during his career, and holding the record for winning the most Academy Awards (four) for Best Director. From the early days of the silent film era to the early 1960s, Ford directed more than 50 Westerns, frequently depicting a poetic vision of the American West with sweeping vistas and rugged heroes.
