Experience living history when the Hashknife Pony Express, the oldest officially sanctioned Pony Express in the world, thunders into town to deliver the mail to U.S. Postal Service representatives at the front steps of Scottsdale’s Museum of the West.
After the mail drop at noon, meet the two dozen riders (and horses!) and take part in photo ops. Starting at approximately 12:45 p.m., enjoy a range of free, family-friendly activities outside on the museum’s south plaza.
The riders will carry approximately 20,000 pieces of first class mail, hand-stamped with the Hashknife Pony Express indicia. The three-day, 200-mile relay will begin in the city of Holbrook, located in northern Arizona.
Those interested in sending a letter via the Hashknife Pony Express can purchase a mailer from the museum store for $1. Mailers must be returned to the museum store with proper postage by February 1 to be included in the February 10 delivery.
